Toni
Hello, I’m Toni and I’m a UKBA(cert) and a Case Manager at Rainbow.
I began working in ABA in 2014 as a therapist whilst studying for my BSc Psychology at the University of Huddersfield. This role is what led me to want to pursue a career in the field of ABA as I quickly became passionate about the science and the difference it made to learners and their families quality of lives. I completed the MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis at Queens Belfast in 2020 and passed the BCBA exam in 2021. I have now transferred over to the UK-SBA replacement certification and now practice as a UKBA(cert).
Career
Throughout my career I have worked with children in a variety of settings including schools, nurseries, homes, clinic settings, in the community and supporting young adults in the workplace. The area in which I most commonly work is early intervention with children who have an ASD diagnosis, within their home or within primary or specialist school settings. Seeing children learn new skills and opening up new possibilities for their learning journeys is extremely rewarding! I enjoy teaching range of meaningful skills to the learners I work with to make their learning journey person-centred and individualised.
Ongoing Training And Learning
I’m also very passionate about staff training and coaching, my MSc dissertation focussed on establishing common ABA practitioner training methods and which of those produce the longest lasting effects to further understand the quality of training we provide in the field. Knowing how effective our training methods are and how to support our therapists is hugely important to me as the learners outcomes are dependent on their know how. I’ve supported various teams including therapists new to the role, developing lead therapists or supervisors and also trained school TA’s and teachers supporting ABA programmes.
