I’m Mollie and I’m a Case Manager at Rainbow!
My journey into ABA started when my cousin began to receive ABA services. Seeing the progress that can be made with ABA opened my eyes to how powerful this approach could be. When I started University at Bangor, I started volunteering for a group that supported autistic children and their siblings one evening each week. This ended up being the highlight of my week and is something I continued for the full four years I spent at Bangor.
After my MSc, I spent a few years working with children in schools, nurseries and their homes before making the jump into adult PBS services across residential care and supported living. I think that working with both adults and children has helped me to gain a lot of perspective around the ways we interact with people and the skills we focus on teaching.
At Rainbow, I am responsible for supervising the practitioners training to become UKBA(certs). I love this part of my job as I truly believe that behaviour analytic principles are everywhere and that seeing them clearly can allow for unbelievable progress both professionally and personally. There’s something special about helping other practitioners develop their skills and having those “lightbulb moments” about behaviour analysis. I also love getting involved in project work behind the scenes. I’m really interested in OBM and would love to explore that side of things more. Rainbow has been fantastic in supporting my development and giving me opportunities to grow.
I love that this field keeps evolving and there’s always something new to learn. Whether I’m supervising team members or working on bigger projects, every day brings something different.
Reflection
Working at Rainbow has been brilliant – there’s such a supportive community here where you know there’s always someone to turn to if you need help or advice. I’m relatively new to the team and everyone has been really supportive in helping me figure out the systems and making me feel welcome. I really value how Rainbow encourages evidence-based practice while keeping everything person-centred, whether we’re working with children or staff.
