Kiara
My name is Kiara and I am a Behavioural Therapist. I have been working with Rainbow Behavioural Therapies for 1 year, which is the same length of time that I have been working as a Behavioural Therapist.
I chose to become a behaviour therapist because I believe it is important for everyone to be treated fairly and have the best quality of life.
I have worked full time with a client in an SEN school wide one year, working on motivation. This has taught me different intervention skills as well as personal development skills, such as communication, with the client and the different stakeholders that have worked on this programme with me.
I have completed my Masters degree on Applied Behaviour Analysis and I am currently working towards getting my UKsBA certification. This is allowing me to develop my skills as a behaviour therapist, while ensuring that I can research and have the opportunity to develop my career options within ABA.
I would describe myself as empathetic, reliable and trustworthy. I believe these traits are important in any person, but especially one who is trusted to work with other people. I am able to empathise with my clients and work to gain their trust to help them achieve their individual goals. I take great pride in my work and so I make sure to do everything within the best of my ability, and I am able to collaborate with my peers to ensure that the client is fully supported with any areas that I am still developing.
Reflection
I chose to work with Rainbow because it is a close community of like-minded professionals who are helping me to achieve my goals of becoming a certified behaviour analyst, while giving me the support I need to help others and develop my skills.
